Bush is doing nothing more than the British Emipire did for generations. We just did it with immeasurably more panache.

Corruption in Iraq ... why the cover-up ?
by Simon ini think it's because people high-up have their sticky fingers in the pie.. when the two whistle-blowers sued custer battles on behalf of the u.s. government?under a u.s. law intended to punish war profiteering and fraud?the bush administration declined to take part.. attorney general alberto gonzales why the government wasn't backing up the lawsuit.
because this is a "seminal" case?the first to be unsealed against an iraq contractor?
"billions of taxpayer dollars are at stake" based on the precedent it could set, the iowa republican said.. the administration has harshly criticized the united nations over hundreds of millions stolen from the oil-for-food program under saddam.

to my memory there have only been two serious gun related sprees like this in the last 20 years in the UK and both have led to serious restriction of the right to keep arms.
The first in Hungerford led to a total ban on the ownership of assault rifles after a mentally ill guy went amok with a legally owned AK47 and the second was the Dunblane massacre where an alleged child molestor took a pair of automatic pistols into a kindergarten and butchered several children and teachers. It's now illegal to own a hand gun in the UK and whilst we still have gun related crime within the criminal elements of society, we don't have pissed off teenagers being able to massacre their classes at school because they cannot get hold of guns.
If you have easy access to firearms in a violent culture where you are continually taught that violence is the answer (John Wayne films, illegal wars etc) then what do you expect?

how many need to die before someone has the balls to stand up and question the 'right to bear arms'?
How long before someone utters the age old 'Guns don't kill people, people do'???

My elder dad used to flip when he heard Metallica or Iron Maiden hammering out of my room. Nirvana was my leaving anthem too, plenty of teenage angst there coming out of every pore!
It makes me laugh because I can remember my dad throwing out a Rolling stones album with Sympathy For the Devil on it, while I was sat in my room listening to Kiss who were suposedly satanic (what rot!)
We had a CO who thought he was hip and down with the kids and used to take the piss out of groups based solely on their names. He made some quip about the group Wet Wet Wet one circuit assembly and I just cringed with embaressment at how rediculous this guy sounded.
Don't even get me started about the pathetic ban on 'discos'. My puritanical grandmother flipped out when my parents told her I was going to the school disco when I was 10. Obviously I was going to get pissed and laid, bloody idiots. I am convinced that it's all a well thought out plan to remove the believer's ability to relate to people in general so they become introverted and easier to control.

WTS Property Developments in London?
by hillary_step incalcutt matthews are the chartered accountants who audit the books of the isba ( international bible students association ).
calcutt matthews is a small charity specialist firm, which acts for three charities from the top 250 in the uk and a number of other smaller charities.. .
in the accounts for the ibsa for 2002 the trustees report states :our projections to august 31, 2003, indicate the need to curtail some spending, because of the property developments in london.

Are these documents freely available on the net or only on enquiry with the Charity commission?

JWD has given me some feeling of peace.
It has helped me move from being desperately angry and self destructive to reconciling my experience as just a dark period of my life that I can let go of now. It's shown me that I'm not some sort of freak because of what I went through, it helped me grieve properly and move on.
Thankyou Simon, thankyou all.

Why do you live where you live?
by Satans little helper infor me i just drifted there when i finished my degree and the girl i was living with at the time got a good job with hewlett packard.
i tagged along and got a job within commuting distance.
i don't really like the city i live in but i haven't bothered moving for the last 6 years through inertia i guess.

I can't stand London, it's full of pretentious tossers who think they are really "IT". I love Cornwall and the scenery is awe inspiring but there is no work, Bournemouth is one of the most boring places on earth

Blair and the other champaigne socialists
by Simon in.
just one of the reasons i despise the man.
like the rest of the bunch of hypocrites they have abandoned all the ideals that they once claimed to have and are now more than happy to have their nose in the trough.. for all the criticism of thatcher (who transformed the country from the tatters it was left in under labour) they have made things much, much worse in terms of difference between rich and poor.. notice too how labour donators seem to have particularly done well, as has mrs blair - her latest contribution sapping money from local education and giving it to fundamentalist muslims in bogus human rights legalities.. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/article.html?in_article_id=398578&in_page_id=2.

Simon, I am completely with you. We now are run by Maggie's favourite pupil, the country is going further down the drain unless you are nearing retirement age.
Thank god Australia still has it's door slightly ajar
